In-situ Space Situational Awareness (ISSA)
ADRAS-J
The ADRAS-J mission is the world's first attempt to safely approach and characterize an existing piece of large debris through Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) and is the start of a full-fledged debris removal service.

Purpose / Objective
The ADRAS-J spacecraft was selected by JAXA for Phase I of its Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration Project (CRD2), one of the world's first technology demonstrations to remove a large-scale debris from orbit.
ADRAS-J demonstrated RPO with a client space object and obtained images and other data of the object, delivering observational information to better understand the space debris environment.
