On February 1, 2019, Astroscale, the global leader in developing a solution for space debris removal, officially established Astroscale Holdings Inc. (ASHD) as a new entity based in Tokyo, Japan that will serve as the global company Headquarters.

Since its founding on May 4, 2013, Astroscale has completed multiple investment rounds and has expanded considerably. In the nearly six years since its founding it has grown from a one-person office in Singapore to over 60 people spread across offices in four countries. As Astroscale expanded to Japan (2015), the UK (2017) and the US (office planned to open in 2019), Singapore has remained as Headquarters and the hub for strategic management. However, with the creation of ASHD, the company will move Headquarters to Tokyo, allowing company senior management to have easier access to all offices and be close to the majority of investors.

Astroscale is very grateful to the Singaporean government and industry representatives who have provided advice and support throughout the last six years. This encouragement has helped to propel Astroscale to its current global leadership position and the company will continue to maintain an administrative office in Singapore.

The next several years will be filled with numerous milestones for Astroscale, most significantly the launch of the first technology demonstration satellite for orbital debris removal, ELSA-d, in early 2020. As the company continues to expand its global reach and take the next steps toward developing a solution for space debris it will do so from a Headquarters based in Japan with gratitude to Singapore.
